BCNC’s Recreation and Fitness program’s SWIM TEAM began in 1996 in the Boston Community Centers (now Boston Center for Youth & Families, BCYF) Swim League. We continue to participate in this league today. The team included about 20 boys and girls pulled from swim lessons & open swims.
The team’s original mascot and nickname was the Rubber Duckies. This classic symbol of fun in the water symbolized the team’s fun & relaxed attitude. As the program has expanded and changed the Rubber Duckies name has been retired, but will always be a fond symbol of the team.
The team has expanded thanks to our loyal swimmers and families spreading the word. The swimmers’ desire for expanded competition pushed us to enter competitive USA Swimming in the fall of 2009.

For more than 40 years, BCNC has been the vital link energizing the Asian immigrant and Asian American community of Greater Boston. It is the one source that meets the needs of the community by providing essential services that ease integration into American society, while preserving their rich culture.
BCNC’s Recreation and Fitness program offers its members a gym, exercise room, and a large and small pool. Programs include physical education, fitness classes, strength training, a swim team, and sports leagues. Members pay a low annual fee based on age.
